Because we think it’s funny?
That’s probably not a good enough reason; we think lots of things are funny!
Back when I was young and actually played video games ever, there was one I really liked called Nightmare Creatures. Because it was sorta Victorian and had lots of monsters. You’ll eventually come to sense a pattern here.
Anyway, in the opening sequence of the game there was a scene where a copy of the Daily London Illustrated Paper gets thrown on someone’s stoop or something, and the headline reads, in great big block letters, MASSACRE! (You can probably already see where this is going from here.) The Daily London part was really big, as was the MASSACRE! part, but the Illustrated Paper part was relatively small, so when you just glanced at it, well, it said Daily London Massacre!

I thought (and probably declared) that the Daily London Massacre was just about the best name possible for a newspaper, and I swore an oath that if I ever had a newsletter or something, that’s what I’d call it (even, and especially, if it didn’t come out daily).
Skip ahead a few years, and introduce the phenomenon of ‘blogging to the Internet, and here we are. Wolfgang and I have talked intermittently about starting a group journal or blog or what-have-you called Daily London Massacre for about as long as we’ve known each other, and now we’ve finally gotten around to actually doing it. It’ll serve as a sort of garage collective of all the things we think are neat, and hopefully eventually start hosting some exclusive content of its own. Right now it’s just me and Wolfgang and occasionally Ben Thomas, but we’re planning to add more names as we go along.
